Progressions in F — Double Bass

Every chord the key of F contains, seen from the bottom: roots, distances, lines.

F major harmonizes to F – Gm – Am – A# – C – Dm – E°; F minor to Fm – G° – G# – A#m – Cm – C# – D#. To the rest of the band those are chords — to you they are a map of root movements, and each one links to its Double Bass page with the tones to fill the space between roots.

Loop the workhorse moves — I–IV–V, ii–V–I, i–VI–VII — in F until your hand knows the distances, then start dressing the roots with fifths, octaves, and approach notes.
